RAPID FIRE is also one of the older matches but is still very popular. This ISSF sanctioned, Olympic discipline is shot with a semi automatic pistol using .22 LR rimfire ammunition.

The pistol must fit into a rectangular box with internal measurements of 300 x 150 x 50 mm. The maximum (unloaded) weight is 1400g and the minimum trigger weight 1000g.

The target is the international match target for Rapid Fire with scoring rings from 10 to 5. The diameter of the 10 ring is 100 mm and the 5 ring 500 mm. The pistol is held in one hand and the match is shot at 5 targets at a distance of 25 metres.

A match consists of 60 shots divided into two halves of 30 shots each. Each half consists of six series of five shots each, with two series in 8 seconds, two series in 6 seconds and two series in 4 seconds. With each series, one shot is fired at each of the five targets within the time limits for that series. Before the start of each section a sighting series of five shots within 8 seconds may be fired.
